Dear Families,
We had an amazing week here at Walnut Square celebrating teachers and staff for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week! Thank you for your participation, involvement, and donations! Your thoughtfulness and generosity was very much appreciated by the staff! I personally am so grateful to be part of this school community!
Our alphabet calendar began this week, and students have been having fun! This week we had Art day, Backwards Day, Crazy Hair Day, and Drop Everything and Read Day! Please check our school’s Facebook and/or Instagram (@walnutsquaresuperstars) to see pictures and reels! Grade 2 also had a Safe Routes to School presentation about pedestrian safety. Thank you to our Health and Wellness Coach Meg Arivella for organizing this for us!
Next week we have a busy week as well, and our grade 3 students will be taking Math MCAS for the first time! Please make sure students are on time on MCAS testing days so that they are able to eat breakfast and get ready to do their best!

- Wednesday, May 15th: MCAS Grade 3 Math Session 2
In addition to grade 3 MCAS, all K-3 students will be completing district assessments in both Reading and Mathematics. In addition to assessments, we have a lot of fun activities planned for our Superstars! Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn and connect to peers and their teachers and staff at Walnut Square. Our attendance for May has been great! Our current attendance rate is 94.51%. Thank you so much for making attendance a priority!
Haverhill Public Schools is having an attendance “Spring Challenge.” This May to encourage everyone to end the year strong, all K-8 schools will challenge students to attend daily on time each day. Those students who make it all 22 days will receive a special “Spring Challenge” reward. Please continue to encourage your child to attend school on time every day unless medically excused, and please reach out if we can support you in any way.
