Dear Families,

Our third-grade Superstars are preparing to participate in the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS).    The third-grade MCAS is an important tool that provides a “snapshot” of your child’s progress in foundational reading, writing, and math skills.  In third grade, this is a significant milestone as it is the first time students take these state assessments.  These tests are designed to help us understand how well students are meeting the state’s learning standards and to help our school identify areas where we can provide additional support.

Below is the testing schedule for ELA and Mathematics.  To help Superstars do their best, it is important to be present and on time for school as sessions begin shortly after the start of the school day.  Arriving tardy may require students to take the test during a make-up period.

Testing Schedule

English Language Arts (ELA)

• Session 1: Tuesday, April 7th

• Session 2: Thursday, April 9th

• ELA Make-up Dates: April 10th and April 13th – 17th

Mathematics

• Session 1: Monday, May 11th

• Session 2: Tuesday, May 12th

• Math Make-up Dates: May 14th, 15th, 18th, and 19th
