Family Update

Quote of the Week

“This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave. ”

– Elmer Davis

Dear Families,

As we approach Veterans Day this coming Monday, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the brave men and women who have served our country. Their sacrifices and dedication allow us to enjoy the freedoms we cherish every day. Let us take this opportunity to honor our veterans and recognize the important role they play in safeguarding our liberties.

I also wanted to thank families for joining us on the Title 1 Nature Walk and Title 1 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, November 6th.   Your participation made the event a tremendous success, and we truly appreciate your support.  The Nature Walk provided our families with a valuable opportunity to connect with the outdoors and experience the numerous benefits that come from spending time in nature. Engaging in outdoor activities promotes physical health, enhances mental well-being, and helps foster social connections among children.  We hope that this experience encourages our students to appreciate the beauty of nature and continue exploring it in the future.   The links below are the Title 1 Family resources that were shared with families on Wednesday.

As we head into the long weekend, I encourage you to take some time to reflect on the importance of community and commitment. Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring that our children are engaged and present in their learning journey.

Wishing you all a wonderful Veterans Day weekend, and I’ll see you back at school on Tuesday, November 12th!

Sincerely,

Jen Rubera

Principal

RUBERA’S READING RECOMMENDATION

Mercedes and the Chocolate Pilot by Margot Theis Raven

Mercedes and the Chocolate Pilot by Margot Theis Raven is an inspiring true story about U.S. Air Force pilot Lt. Gail Halvorsen. During the Berlin blockade from 1948 to 1949, Halvorsen dropped candy parachutes to children in Berlin. This touching narrative highlights how the U.S. military helped prevent a third world war by using the skies as a route to deliver essential supplies over a period of 15 months. It also showcases the compassion and kindness of many veterans who brought joy and hope to young children during this challenging time.
