Pumpkin Parade, Kimball Farm, and Fall 24 Survey

Dear Families,

I am so excited about Pumpkin Day on Friday, October 25th! This is our fourth year celebrating National Pumpkin Day (which is observed on October 26th).  All day long, students will experience an immersion day about one of fall’s finest fruit- the pumpkin!  To end the day, there will be a Pumpkin Parade at 2:40, and students may dress in orange or wear a costume.  At the end of the parade, students will visit Walnut Square’s “Pumpkin Patch” to pick a pumpkin to take home.

Students have been asking questions about the parade tomorrow. Please pack any costumes in backpacks so they can easily and quickly change into them by themselves. Masks are allowed as long as students can safely see and walk while wearing them. However, no weapons, face paint, or anything that needs to be applied to the skin is permitted. Since students will have a short amount of time to change, we want to make the process as easy as possible for them. If students are not wearing a costume, something orange or pumpkin-themed would be great! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Families are invited to attend the parade in the schoolyard this year. Please gather in the designated visitor area. We recommend bringing your own foldable chair or towel to sit on. All families must sign in and remain in the visitor area to allow students to march in the parade and visit the “pumpkin patch.”  If you plan on changing your child’s dismissal that day, please send in the notice that was sent home.  We appreciate that all families wait until 3:15  for dismissal to ensure all of our Superstars get home safely.  A copy of the notices is below.

Pumpkin Day does not end at 3:15…we hope you’ll join the Walnut Square PTO from 4:00-6:00 pm at Kimball Farm!

Thank you to for completing the Walnut Square’s Fall 2024 Family Feedback survey.  If you haven’t completed it yet, please take a moment to complete this brief, ten-question survey.  Your valuable feedback is greatly appreciated and shared with staff, Site Council, and PTO to improve Walnut Square School by celebrating success, identifying educational needs, and helping decision-making regarding the development of next year’s School Improvement Plan.  Your input will play a significant role and is very much appreciated!      Please click here to complete the survey.

I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weather today!

Sincerely,

Jen Rubera
