Quote of the Week
“Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.”
-Sally Koch
Dear Families,
There was so much to celebrate this week at Walnut Square! Both Kindergarten classrooms passed 100 lessons each in iReady! That’s 200 passed lessons! Mrs. Abreu’s class and Ms. Luttig’s class both celebrated with Stuffie Day. Today we celebrated Mrs. O’Leary’s class for winning the attendance contest for the month of September! It was great to celebrate with students, families, and special guest Bonnie Antkowiak! Thank you to Food services for providing a delicious breakfast- the mixed fruit, pumpkin muffins, and chocolate croissants were a big hit! Our weekly attendance continues to be strong. Please see the graphic below for a breakdown of our attendance rate this week. As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, October 14th. Please check the “Mark Your Calendar” section below for all important dates (including early release days).
Fall is here and it is time to complete Walnut Square’s Fall 2024 Family Feedback survey. Please take a moment to complete this brief, ten question survey. Your valuable feedback is greatly appreciated and shared with staff, Site Council, and PTO to improve Walnut Square School by celebrating success, identifying educational needs, and helping decision-making regarding the development of next year’s School Improvement Plan. Your input will play a significant role and is very much appreciated! Please click here to complete the survey.

Our school nurses started the Vision and Screenings this week. Most of the students in grades 2 and 3 have completed the screening, and they were able to begin screening Kindergarten students. Nurse Helene and Nurse Jillian will continue to conduct screening next week. Please remind children to bring/wear their glasses to school. Any student that does not pass the screening will have a referral sent home.
The Haverhill Boys and Girls Club is hosting an afterschool Kids Club at Walnut Square. Please click on the flyer below for more details and contact information if you are interested in enrolling your child.
