Principal’s Post 

Dear Families,

We ended the month of May with so much fun…and the weather was beautiful!  That’s a big WIN in my book!  On Wednesday, we had field day, and it was awesome!  Thank you to Mr. DeAngelo for organizing and coordinating a fun-filled field day!  Thank you to all of the parents/family members who were able to volunteer and run the stations!  Thank you to the PTO for purchasing slush and t-shirts for our Superstars!  Thank you to Kym Safran who coordinated the slush order!  The spring concert today was amazing!  Thank you to Mr. Tsioropolous for organizing and coordinating a great spring concert and giving our Superstars the gift of music.  I’d also like to thank all of the Walnut Square staff for their help and support during these busy and fun-filled days.  It truly takes a village, and I’m so grateful that I work with a dedicated and supportive staff!  I will upload the videos to my YouTube channel, @jenrubera, for you to watch and enjoy again.  Please check our school’s Facebook and/or Instagram (@walnutsquaresuperstars) to see pictures and reels of our final days!  Alphabet Calendar:  Please click here to read the calendar in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

As we wind down the school year, there are many resources to share for the summer.  HPS has a summer reading list available, and you can click here to view it.  Haverhill Public Library has a lot of resources, and you can visit https://haverhillpl.org/to explore.  Another great resource to check out is the Haverhill Promise website.  There is a summer calendar which has all of the fun activities you can do around Haverhill with your family!   https://www.haverhillpromise.com/summercalendar2024.  For other resources about summer learning opportunities, please visit https://www.haverhill-ps.org/summer-learning-opportunities/.

We also ended the month of May with a strong attendance rate of 95.05%!  Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn and connect to peers and their teachers and staff at Walnut Square.  Thank you so much for making attendance a priority!  The Spring Challenge ended today, and we had many students who had attended schools with no absences or tardies!  We’ll celebrate them next week!
