Principal’s Post

- The Peace Parade was a success! Thank you all for participating- we had some great examples of peace and kindness listed on the chains! Please check out Walnut Square’s Facebook and Instagram pages for pictures and reels!
- The Book Fair is coming to Walnut Square! Visit https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/walnutsquareelementarysch to learn more about how to set up an ewallet and/or do some online shopping.
- Wednesday, January 24th is an early release day, and dismissal is at 11:35 am. It is also the date of the PTO’s Spaghetti Dinner, a free event open to all Walnut Square families. The Spaghetti Dinner will take place at the America Legion…more details are listed below. I hope you can attend…I have my earrings ready to go!
School Reminders
- I would like to review our school policy about toys as many toys are coming to school. Students are not allowed to bring toys from home into the school. This includes trading cards, fidget toys, figurines, toy cars, dolls or games. Toys are expensive for parents and we would hate for them to get lost or broken. Furthermore, toys brought from home can disrupt the learning at school. Whilst we understand that children may wish to carry familiar toys with them and to show their friends items they consider precious, it has been our experience that bringing toys from home to school can create difficult situations to manage. The students have many toys and games to play with here at school. If toys are found at school they will be collected by staff for safekeeping and returned after school. Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this matter.
- Please send a water bottle to school each day with your child. We are also accepting donations of plastic cups. Thank you for attention and help with this!

Walnut Square Library Updates
The Book Fair is coming to Walnut Square School! We are very excited about this and are sure it will be a huge success. Not only will students be able to purchase some great books but some of the money will go to purchase new books for our library. The book Fair will take place the week of February 9th, and it will be open for parents during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, February 15th. If you are able to volunteer to help with this event and have a completed CORI on file, please email your child’s teacher or Mrs. Greene at kgreene@haverhill-ps.org.
