Dear Families,
We had another amazing week at Walnut Square with much to celebrate! I am so impressed and inspired by our Superstars who attended the School Committee meeting last night to share their mathematical thinking and problem solving. You proudly represented Walnut Square and Haverhill Public Schools last night! Here is the link to watch last night’s meeting: http://haverhillcommunitytv.org/category/government/school-committee.
On Wednesday evening, the PTO hosted a Corn Maze Fundraiser at Kimball Farm, and it was an awesome success! I love being able to spend time with Walnut Square Families outside of school! I’d also like to thank Tyler Kimball for donating 100% of the proceeds to the Walnut Square PTO. It is much appreciated!
We ended the week with the best way to celebrate Pumpkin Day- a parade! Students did a great job marching in the parade, and I’m looking forward to making a video! As with any event, I’m so thankful and grateful for all who work so hard to ensure a safe and happy experience for our Superstars! Thank you to all of the staff who work behind the scenes to prepare fun lessons for Pumpkin Day and make sure everyone who would like to dress up has a costume. I’d also like to thank the PTO for decorating the school yard, setting up the “pumpkin patch,” and organizing cider for the spectators. Thank you to the Korinow family for purchasing pumpkins for every student. And thank you to the families for attending the parade- you are the best audience!
I would also like to share the link to complete the Fall Family Feedback Survey: https://forms.gle/ebED3Hgycace1FUS8. Your input is very much appreciated. This survey is shared with staff, Site Council, and PTO, and your feedback is important!
School portrait day is back. O’Connor Studios will be returning on Wednesday, November 15th, for students who were absent on portrait day, or for those who need their portrait package retaken. If you’d like to order portraits, please use your original order form, or call the school office at (978) 374-3471 to have a new form sent home. If you are having your child’s portrait retaken, your original portrait package must be given to the photographer on retake day. No order form is necessary. Please note that retakes are only offered for students who paid for a portrait package, or who were absent on portrait day.
Next week is our final week of “Sock”tober! Walnut Square is partnering with Veterans Northeast Outreach Center to provide new packages of socks and toiletries to veterans. Walnut Square is collecting the following items:
- New, unopened packages of socks
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Soap
- Deodorant
- Toothbrushes

Thank you for your help and support in partnering with this amazing community organization! As with all family updates, this will be posted on our school website, https://walnutsquare.haverhill-ps.org/ and sent to you via School Messenger and Remind.
