Family Update

Dear Families,

Welcome back to school!  I hope you enjoyed the break with your family and friends.  As we welcome students back, it is a good time to review routines and procedures to ensure safety and help students learn and grow.  Here are the links to our Family Guides and the approved school calendar:

As a gentle reminder, please remember to pack a water bottle to use at our water bottle filling stations.  Your help with this is greatly appreciated.

For our multilingual learners, we began ACCESS testing on Thursday, January 5th with a  planned end date of Friday, January 13th.   The ACCESS test is given each year to test English Language abilities in listening, speaking, reading and writing.  More information will be sent home by Ms. Jennifer Edwards.

We have some events planned for this month!  Our first is our Peace March in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Here is the link to the flyer that was sent home with students:  Flyer in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Another fun event we have planned is Walnut Square SEL-ebration! It is a Title 1 Family Engagement night that will be on Thursday, January 19th from 6:00-7:30 pm at Walnut Square School.  We hope families will join us for a brief presentation about Social and Emotional Learning at Walnut Square and participate in fun activities that we do at Walnut Square that you can do at home! Flyers will be going home next week, or you can click here to sign up.

Congratulations to Avery, Ciara, Jadeline, and Nicholas for winning the attendance raffle!

As with all family updates, this will be posted on our school website, https://walnutsquare.I-ps.org/ and sent to you via School Messenger and Remind.  In addition to the Walnut Square School website, you can also “like” our Facebook page, Walnut Square Elementary School, and follow us on Instragram @walnutsquaresuperstars to get updates and see all of the fun and learning taking place at Walnut Square!   Please contact me if you have any questions.  Thank you!

Sincerely,

Jen Rubera

Principal
