Family Update: Weekly Recap, October Reading Log, WSQ Fall Planting and Clean Up, Whittier Building Project Meeting
Posted Date: 10/30/26 (05:15 PM)
Dear Walnut Square Families,
It was another wonderful, busy week here at Walnut Square! The week started with the Title 1 Nature Walk around Lake Pentucket, which turned out to be a perfect sunset stroll. The beautiful weather continued right into Wednesday for our Pumpkin Day celebrations, wrapping up with an incredible pumpkin parade. Our Superstars loved visiting the Walnut Square "Pumpkin Patch," where each student had the chance to pick their very own pumpkin to take home.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing PTO for your generous support in providing the pumpkins and cone barriers. Setting up the cones and pumpkins allowed families to safely view the parade from inside the schoolyard and ensured our Pumpkin Day parade was a tremendous success. I am so grateful for everything you do to make these events memorable for our students and community.
A quick reminder that our October Reading Challenge ends tomorrow! Please ensure your Superstar’s completed books are entered into their reading log. If you prefer to submit a paper log, please include your student's first and last name, grade, teacher, and the full list of books read. Every book counts, and I am so proud of all the reading our students have accomplished this month.
Looking ahead, next week will be another eventful one at Walnut Square. There is a PTO meeting on Monday evening hosted virtually via Google Meet. Please remember that there is no school for students on Tuesday due to teacher professional development. Later in the week, we will be hosting a schoolyard cleanup and flower bulb planting from 3:00 PM to approximately 4:30/5:00 PM. I am so excited to team up with the Gateway Grizzlies to help garden and plant bulbs so our grounds bloom into a beautiful garden next spring. Family volunteers are invited to join in the fun, so please come lend a hand if you are available!
Additionally, there will be an important informational meeting on November 5th at 6:00 PM at Whittier Middle School to learn more about the next HPS building project. Walnut Square students and families are highly encouraged to attend, as this project may impact the future of our school community. Your voice, help, and input are deeply valued and appreciated as we plan ahead for our community.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Happy Halloween to those who celebrate, and enjoy the extra hour on Sunday!
Sincerely,
Jen Rubera
Principal
