Wednesday, October 28th: Early Release Day and Pumpkin Day
Dear Families,
I am so excited for our school-wide Pumpkin Day for our early release day on Wednesday, October 28th. It will be a packed morning of fun, fall-themed activities that focus on the pumpkin! All Superstars who are in attendance will be entered into a drawing to win a raffle for a special prize! Superstars will also be able to cast a vote for their favorite staff-decorated pumpkin! The day will end with our pumpkin parade at 11:00, and Superstars will be able to visit the “Pumpkin Patch” to pick out a pumpkin to take home. Thank you to the PTO for donating pumpkins so each Superstar can go home with a pumpkin!
I wanted to share a few reminders about the Pumpkin Parade:
The main goal of our pumpkin parade is to come together as a school community, invite families to watch, and then have students “pick” a pumpkin from our Walnut Square pumpkin patch. Our core focus for the day is on harvest, autumn, and pumpkins. All students are welcome to participate in a way that feels comfortable for their families. Here are some options for attire and participation:
Option 1: Wear orange, yellow, brown, or fall colors.
Option 2: Wear a pumpkin shirt or fall gear.
Option 3: Wear a family-friendly costume (please ensure costumes are school-appropriate- no weapons or scary/gory elements).
Option 4: Wear a Walnut Square t-shirt
Option 5: Wear blue for Stand Up for Bullying.
Option 6: Wear regular everyday school clothes.
Families will be invited to watch the parade and pumpkin picking in the schoolyard. The PTO has purchased cones to section off an area where families can watch.
Thank you for your support in making this a fun, inclusive, and memorable morning for all of our students!
Sincerely,
Jen Rubera
Principal
