Principal's Post

Dear Families,

The Walnut Square Spring 2026 Family Feedback Survey remains open, and your help is needed: https://forms.gle/a5EWnFufoVccyPw96.  Currently, 44% of our families have completed the survey, and we would like to meet or exceed the 63% paricipation rate from the Fall 25 survey.   The data we collect from this survey is incredibly valuable.  It is shared directly with our school staff, Site Council, and PTO to guide our school improvement efforts, measure our goals, and inform decisions about the future of our school community.  We want to ensure the survey data reflects our entire school community.  Please help us finish the year strong and set up next school year for success!

As we approach the finish line of a wonderful school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate everything our students have accomplished.  From mastering new reading skills to building strong friendships, our Superstars have grown immensely.
With exactly 8 days of school remaining, it can be tempting to let the summer mindset kick in early.  However, your help is needed to finish strong!

Daily school attendance is incredibly important for:

  • Key Learning & Closure:  Teachers are wrapping up final units, completing important end-of-year assessments, and helping students transition to the next grade level. Missing these days creates gaps that can impact their start in the fall.
  • Celebrating Success & Community:  The end of the year is filled with special traditions, award ceremonies, memory books, and classroom celebrations.  These moments provide vital social and emotional closure for children, allowing them to celebrate their hard work with peers and teachers.
  • Building Consistent Routines:  Maintaining a consistent morning and school routine right up until the final bell helps children feel secure and keeps their brains engaged, making the eventual transition back to school in September much smoother.
Our data shows that when our school community works together, our students thrive.  Let’s make sure every student is present, accounted for, and celebrated every single day until the very last day of school.  If your family is facing any barriers to attendance as the year winds down, please contact me so we can support you.  Thank you for your continued partnership, dedication, and support throughout this year.  Let’s make these final 8 days count!

Sincerely,
Jen Rubera
Principal
