Dear Families,

We have completed another busy week here at Walnut Square! Thank you to Ms. Jurnee, a librarian from the Haverhill Public Library, who visited each classroom to read a story and talk about summer reading and programming at the Haverhill Public Library! Classroom visits like these are a wonderful reminder of how vital reading is during the upcoming break. Keeping books in our students' hands helps prevent the "summer slide" by maintaining critical reading skills, building vocabulary, and sparking imagination so children head into the next school year confident and ready to learn. Our partnership with the Haverhill Public Library is a fantastic asset for our families, offering not only an endless supply of books but also free educational programming, community connections, and motivational summer reading challenges. We highly encourage all of our families to visit the library, grab a library card, and check out their fantastic lineup of free events to keep the joy of learning alive all summer long! The Walnut Square Spring 2026 Family Feedback Survey remains open, and your help is needed: https://forms.gle/a5EWnFufoVccyPw96. Currently, 30% of our families have completed the survey, and we would like to meet or exceed the 63% paricipation rate from the Fall 25 survey. The data we collect from this survey is incredibly valuable. It is shared directly with our school staff, Site Council, and PTO to guide our school improvement efforts, measure our goals, and inform decisions about the future of our school community. We want to ensure the survey data reflects our entire school community. Please help us finish the year strong and set up next school year for success!

Walnut Square School Alphabet Calendar

Starting Tuesday, May 12th, we will begin a 26-day sprint through spring, with each day featuring a
unique theme corresponding to a letter of the alphabet. From "A for Athlete Day" to "Z for Zero
More Days," our school will be buzzing with creative activities, school spirit days, and special
community events.
