Principal's Post 

Dear Walnut Square Families,

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, I want to begin by expressing my deepest gratitude to our PTO and all of our families for an absolutely incredible Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!  The generosity shown to our team was truly overwhelming.  From the delicious breakfast and lunch spreads to the thoughtful sweet treats, gift cards, and wonderful t-shirts, every gesture made our staff feel celebrated and valued.  I also want to thank you for the heartwarming notes of appreciation; those personal words mean the world to us and remind us why we love being part of this community.

Looking ahead to this week, our Grade 3 students will be taking the Math MCAS on Monday, May 11th (Session 1) and Tuesday, May 12th (Session 2).  I am so proud of the 100% attendance we achieved during the ELA MCAS, and I am hopeful we can reach that same perfect milestone this week!  For any students who may be absent, math make-up dates are scheduled for May 14th, 15th, 18th, and 19th. Please also note that Wednesday, May 13th, is an Early Release Day with dismissal at 11:35 am.
The month of May continues to be busy with wonderful events.  We hope to see many of you at the HPS City-Wide Art Show at the High School on Thursday, May 14th, from 4:00–7:00 pm.  On Friday, May 22nd, we invite you to join us for our K-3 Spring Music Concert at 10:15 am (with a rain date of May 29th).  Please remember that there will be no school on Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day.

As we move into June, we have a calendar full of celebrations to wrap up the year.  Field Day is set for Tuesday, June 9th (rain date June 11th).  Our third graders have several special events as they prepare for the transition to 4th grade, including Walk Up Day to Pentucket Lake on June 12th, and their Promotion Ceremony and Luau on Tuesday, June 16th.  Our youngest learners will also celebrate with the Kindergarten Teddy Bear Picnic on the morning of June 15th.  Finally, our last day of school will be Wednesday, June 17th, which will be an Early Release Day with dismissal at 11:35 am.

Walnut Square School Alphabet Calendar

Starting Tuesday, May 12th, we will begin a 26-day sprint through spring, with each day featuring a
unique theme corresponding to a letter of the alphabet.  From "A for Athlete Day" to "Z for Zero
More Days," our school will be buzzing with creative activities, school spirit days, and special
community events.
