Grade K News-Ms. Abreu and Ms. Luttig
We hope everyone enjoyed their break; we are excited to be back in school! This week in Letterland, we will start exploring letter blends starting with s blends and l blends. We will be reviewing our sight words. In Math, we will be exploring shapes while continuing to practice addition and teen numbers. In Writing we will practice using our sight words to write sentences that follow our rules of a sentence (start with an uppercase, use spaces and end with punctuation). Finally, in Science, we will begin our exploration of plants!
Please remember to send your child to school with their STAR folder, a charged iPad, a snack (a peanut free snack for students in Mrs. Abreu’s class), and a water bottle. We can’t wait to see everyone soon!
Grade 1 News- Ms. Demarais and Ms. Hughes
We hope everyone enjoyed our beautiful week off, relaxing and spending time with friends and family. We’re looking forward to making the most of our last few weeks together at school. In math we will complete our last topic on place value, specifically subtracting tens and ones. We will be learning about seeds and plants this week as we observe our marigold plants growing. Our writing this week will focus on what we’re learning about plants, and about stories read in class. In order to better address the individual needs of our first graders, we will be grouping the kids for phonics instruction. Mrs. Hughes, Mrs. Demarais and Mrs. Brent (our reading specialist) will each take a group for 30 minutes of direct instruction daily. Each group will work at their own level and their own pace. We are excited to be able to use this approach to best help our students!
Grade 2 News- Ms. Caruso and Ms. Sanchez
We hope everyone had a wonderful week off. Please send in your child’s Chromebook and make sure it is charged. Looking forward to a great week!
