    Walnut Square Ukulele FundraiserDonors Choose

Our Music Teacher Ms. Steiger is raising money to purchase ukuleles for our students. She would like to give our students the gift of music so each child will be able to hold a ukulele and be learn to play. Elementary music students have missed out on so much this year! With the warmer weather approaching, it would be lovely to sit in the sun and play ukulele with the kids at Walnut Square! We need YOUR help!

Students will study the life cycle of frogs in Science and work on informative writing by creating an All About Frogs book. Finally, students will count by 1’s and 10’s to 100 in Math.

Spring is here!  We are very excited for the warmer weather and some outside time.  Please make sure you send in a water bottle that can be refilled during the day.  In math we will be starting a new topic that is using models and strategies to subtract 10’s.  In Letterland we will be introducing the long A spellings;  ai and ay.  In writing we will be continuing with How-To writing as well as writing about reading.  Our science unit will focus around animals in the Spring.

    Grade 2 News

The signs of spring are everywhere. This week we’ll brainstorm signs of spring ( see, hear, feel, touch) for a future writing assignment. We will  write a descriptive paragraph for our decorated egg project. Another exciting activity will be measuring our bunnies we will create in class during math. In math, we’ll review the different types of graphs. We will continue to Buddy read too. Happy Spring!

Lunch/Classroom/ Hall Helpers Needed at Walnut Square

Starting the week of April 5th, we return to in- person learning. Students will be 3 feet apart in classrooms but remain 6 feet apart at lunch. Because of this, our classroom enrollments will increase and we will open up a second room in the basement to accommodate more students at lunch time. Walnut Square is looking for a couple of people to help out for a few hours per day as either a lunch room monitor, classroom helper or hall monitor through the end of the 20-21 school year. If you are interested in working at Walnut Square School for a couple of hours each day as a lunch monitor, a classroom helper, or a hall monitor please contact Walnut square at 978-374-3471 or email me @ bkitsos@haverhill-ps.org

    Have a wonderful week!
