Reminder: Cohorts A and B continue Remote Learning

The Haverhill School Committee met on Thursday, December 10th and voted to continue a reduced Hybrid model until January 19, 2021. This means only Cohort C students will attend in person learning, while Cohorts A and B students will continue to work remotely with their teachers.

    Picture days- December 15-16-17

Walnut Square will have student pictures this week. On Friday, the secretary contacted parents in cohorts A, B and C to schedule a time for their child to be brought to school to get the photo taken. Parents will bring their child to the Main St. door at the scheduled time. Staff will escort the student to the picture room and then escort the child to the North Ave side door to meet their parent immediately after the picture is taken. Cohort C parents should decide which date, 12/15 or 12/16 for their child to take the picture, however no appointment is necessary as they will be in the building both days. If you have not had contact with the secretary to schedule a date and time please contact the school at 978-374-3471.

    Grade 1 Update

It’s the time of year we start learning about holidays around the world! We will be talking about traditions of several countries as well as our own traditions during the holidays.  This week we will be starting Topic 5 in enVisions math:  Working with addition and subtraction equations.  Please make sure to log into iReady reading for 45 minutes per week and iReady math for 45 minutes a week.  Our letterland theme of the week is Unit 10:  Best Friends at the End including -ff, -ll and -ss.  We will be writing about reading this week including the Gingerbread Girl story, Too Many Toys and Holidays Around the World.

    Grade 2 Update

Our students will continue their journey exploring December Celebrations across the world.  This week the students will travel to Germany and Israel.  A favorite this time of year is Gingerbread houses.  Students will read and write how to create a gingerbread house informational paragraph.  Students will continue reviewing verbs and be introduced to adjectives.  In math, we have begun subtraction with two-digits using a 100 chart.  Subtraction will continue using an open number line.  This week we will learn what winter is like in the United States and write about the signs of winter.  Please make sure your child is completing their time assigned in STMath and I-Ready (found in Googleclassroom) as directed by Central Office administration.  Let’s have a fabulous week!

    Have a wonderful week!
