Important Message from the Principal!
September 14, 2016
I am delighted to report that our opening of school went exceptionally well. We counted nearly 150 students in attendance who met with their teachers and began learning their new surroundings and expectations. As always, there was excitement on the first day as students reunited with friends and shared their summer experiences. Our incredible staff is dedicated to supporting all students while maintaining high expectations in the classroom. I’m confident that this will be another great year.
Arrival time: Students may be dropped off at the playground at 8:45am. All students will line up with their classroom at 9:00am and proceed into the building. We ask that only students and staff be on the playground at this time. Parents/guardians may stand off to the side on the North Avenue section of the playground. Thank you for your understanding.
Changes to your child’s dismissal plans: Please send in a dismissal note with your child if you plan to change his/her dismissal plans for that day. If an emergency arises during the day and parents need to change their child’s dismissal plan, please notify the front office by 2:30pm. Only emergency dismissals will be accepted after 2:30pm. We cannot guarantee that your child’s teacher will be notified of changes after this time unless it’s an emergency. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
Free and Reduced Lunch paperwork: If you’re eligible for support, please obtain a form from the main office or ask your child’s teacher and submit it as soon as possible. Parents have to re-apply each year in order to receive this assistance.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the entire Walnut Square community for an efficient beginning to the new school year. School is back in session! In the spirit of safety, please be aware of children at bus stops, walking to and from school, and the traffic patterns around our school buses. Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation regarding the safety of our children. I want to wish all of our families a productive and enjoyable school year.
